For one to be an accredited pathologist, he or she must obtain a license from the national government. The licensing procedure is rather complex and detailed since assessments must be done to the graduate. These assessments are usually sponsored by the central government. The government sends officials to oversee the examination exercise and award licenses to the qualified persons.

In this studying area, there are a number of areas in which a student can choose to specialize in. One may specialize with adults or with young children. Also, a student can choose to deal with those who have problems in their speeches or different learning disabilities. After gaining relevant experience, a student can be hired in various administrative positions. Also, an experienced speech pathologist may become a mentor to different people in the society. Mentor-ship is usually viewed as a great virtue which requires one to be humbled at all times.

For one to be a successful pathologist, he or she must be able to work well with different patients. Listening to the patients and diagnosing their problems effectively form part of their duty. They should be able to treat the observed disorders in speech with a lot of expertise. Patience, empathy as well as good listening skills are some of the attributes that should be portrayed by professionals.
