When it comes to having the self-determination to get things done, people often need a great deal of strength. In some cases, adventures in collective empowerment can be beneficial in teaching people new and different skills which can empower and enlighten individuals in this area. For, it is also the process of gaining strength and becoming more confident while taking control of life and learning how to claim personal rights and space.

One of the best and most practical approaches to intervention in social work is through teaching empowerment to addicts and survivors. Whereas, it is often seen as a tool which can help individuals grow, learn and develop more easily. In addition, it can also be a great tool when learning how to engage with others or promoting civic engagement.

One of the most well known definitions suggest it is an ongoing process in which individuals whom are centered intentionally motivate others to get involved in local events through caring, critical reflection and group participation. Whereas, the term can also refer to the process in which groups are enabled to access authority, influence and collective power to have the strength necessary to deal with individuals, large institutions and society at large.

In no way is empowering someone giving the individual power. For, power already exist within the wealth of knowledge each individual. Rather, it is the letting the power out into the world while teaching people to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to overcome obstacles and reach goals. After which, most often these individuals become stronger and better able to handle a number of different tasks whether at home, school or work.

The concept can also be defined as obtaining opportunities for marginalized groups and individuals. Whether through the help of the individual or people within the group, or outsiders, such as non-marginalized people who have shared stories of harder times to aid in promoting equality in the future, individuals often learn a great deal about the benefits of empowerment.

Both types of empowerment, individual and collective are necessities when it comes to people working together in harmony to make the world a better place. In either case, it is important to understand that it is used to build and strengthen rather than weaken and destroy individuals, communities and groups. For, only when people have the strength to teach others the skills and tools necessary to make these changes will people see a better world in the future.

While there are some whom suggest that empowering women is equal to discriminating against men, this is not the case. In addition, all genders including transgendered individuals need to be equally empowered. Living a globally oriented life with a perspective in which all individuals are equal when it comes to standards, improvement of conditions and events is often the best way to empower oneself and others.

While it is possible to empower individuals and groups in certain ways, creating a more equal and empowered world continues to remain a worthy goal. Although, until people can learn how to agree to disagree while growing in peace and love, there will always be a need for individual and collective empowerment. While the concept to strengthen the world by strengthening the people is a noble one, not all are willing to be the change others want to see in the world.
