There are many different types of blog writing, from personal blogs to business ones, but they all have one thing in common and that is that they are all read by humans. Always remember that whoever is reading the article, whether it is a CEO or a bored teenager, they are all people. So whether you are focusing on b2b creative blog writing or travel writing, always focus on the reader.

When writing, consider the person that might be reading through the blog. Who is the blog aimed at? Is it marketing the business? Is your audience actually the competition? The audience makes all the difference and is essential to allow you to work out the tone of the article and what you are trying to say. Most articles can be summed up into a simple message, so what is yours?

Finding your inspiration is a crucial step in the writer's process. Just because you are writing a business to business blog, doesn't mean your inspiration has to come from the business. It can come from just about anywhere. Whether it is from riding a train and looking out of the window, reading other people's blogs or talking to people, any inspiration is worthwhile.

Reading is essential for all good writers and if you have ever read the work of a writer who doesn't read, you know it straight away. Not only does it improve vocabulary, grammar and spelling, but it also helps writers to hone their own styles. You will be learning about writing without even realising it. So make sure what you are reading is good quality.

It is vital that you research the competition and see what they are doing in their blog. This makes good business sense but is just as important even if your blog is just a hobby. It will teach you what other people are interested in reading about and it will teach you what other people in the same industry are interested in writing about.

As with everything in life, practise will make all the difference to your work. After you have written your article, step away from the computer and try to get some distance from it. When you come back you will be able to read your article with fresh eyes and see any areas that aren't working. This is also essential for proofreading.

Getting out and about is a wonderful way to get inspired and clear your head. Whether you have writer's block or you just need a bit of a break before reading your article, getting out into the fresh air will allow you to focus your mind on other things, so when you come back to the page you are better able to focus and improve your work.

Being a writer comes very easily to some people and other people find it a great deal harder. It doesn't matter how hard or easy it is though, a good article is written with honesty and not rushed and that dedication will show through in the article. Always think about the person you are creating it for and how they will feel when they are reading your article.
